Elk City, OK - Fatal Injuries in Semi-Truck Crash on Hwy 152

Elk City, OK (August 26, 2024) - On Friday, August 23, there were fatal injuries after a two-vehicle crash outside of Elk City. The deadly accident took place on Highway 152 late that night around 8:57 p.m. It was later revealed that a 2015 Toyota Sienna and a 2009 Peterbilt semi-truck collided at the scene. 

According to police records, 31-year-old Jia Li of Monterey Park, California, was driving the Toyota when they collided with the oncoming commercial truck, which was operated by 49-year-old Roberto Rubalcaba of Garden City, KS. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene. A passenger in the Sienna, 61-year-old Bailing Sun of Santa Ana, California, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Li was transported by ambulance to Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City for treatment. The conditions of three other passengers have not been provided. No further information on the accident is currently available. Nonetheless, an ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
