Kiowa, OK - Passenger Dies in Car Crash near Garfield Ave, Several Hurt

Kiowa, OK (January 21, 2025) - A vehicle collision in the Kiowa area on Sunday, January 19, left one person dead and several others injured. The crash took place late that evening near Garfield Avenue, as 33-year-old Anthony Martinez was driving a 2010 Volkswagen. For unknown reasons, the vehicle crashed. 

Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide the necessary medical aid to the involved parties. Martinez was rendered aid by attending personnel before being transported by ambulance to a local hospital for the treatment of head injuries. The front-seat passenger, 46-year-old Leirys Subero, was also hospitalized with head injuries and listed in critical condition. Another passenger, 29-year-old Elvis Arellano, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The two remaining passengers, 24-year-old Pedro Diez and 19-year-old Carlos Aldana, were hospitalized for treatment, with Aldana listed in critical condition.

The area was temporarily closed while local authorities were present. No further information on the incident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
