A head-on impact can be severe. These crashes are involved in almost 10 percent of reported traffic fatalities nationwide, despite making up less than two percent of reported crashes each year. In most cases, these accidents involve drivers who veer into oncoming traffic, sometimes due to distraction. A total of 3,631 people were killed in head-on impacts in a recent year, with thousands more suffering serious injuries. If someone close to you is killed in a collision, it can seem hard to move on.
