Lima, OK (November 3, 2024) - One person was killed and another was injured after a two-vehicle collision outside of Lima on Thursday, October 31. The deadly accident took place on OK-59 late that night. Local reports revealed that 33-year-old Cody Brown of Sulphur was traveling eastbound on the highway when he attempted to pass another vehicle.
Brown collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle in the westbound lanes. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid to the involved parties. Brown suffered fatal injuries in the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was rushed by Air Evac to the Oklahoma University Medical Hospital in Oklahoma City for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more information will be provided as it continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
When two cars crash into each other head-on, it can result in life-changing or even fatal injuries. About 10 percent of all road deaths in the country happen in head-on collisions, even though they only make up about two percent of all recorded crashes each year. A lot of the time, these accidents happen when drivers turn into oncoming traffic, sometimes because they are distracted behind the wheel. More than 3,000 people were killed in head-on collisions last year, and thousands more were badly hurt.
