A head-on crash has a high chance of ending in fatal injuries. These types of collisions involve two vehicles traveling in opposing directions that collide, and the force of impact can be intense. In fact, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), head-on impacts have a nearly 56 percent fatality rate, much higher than other types of crashes. Statistics show that despite making up less than two percent of reported traffic accidents nationwide, head-on collisions are involved in roughly 10 percent of roadway fatalities each year.
