Mooreland, OK (February 24, 2025) - On Sunday, February 23, two men were killed after a crash involving a commercial truck outside of Mooreland. The deadly crash took place on US-412 near NS212 Road that afternoon at around 12:40 p.m. It was reported that a 30-year-old Oklahoma City man was driving a Kia on NS212 Road at the time of the impact.
At the same time, a Freightliner semi-truck was headed east on US-412 when the trucker failed to yield the right of way and collided with the oncoming passenger car. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to provide the necessary aid to the involved parties. Both the driver of the Kia and a passenger, a 37-year-old man also from Oklahoma City, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by attending medical personnel. The identities of the deceased victims have been withheld. The driver of the semi was not harmed in the collision. No further information on the incident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more updates should be expected as the inquiry progresses.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this grieving time.
Large semi-trucks are all over the roads, and Oklahoma plays a key role in the national transportation infrastructure. This is because Oklahoma is at the heart of the country, and many large vehicles transport goods and commodities across the state’s highways. More than 500,000 large truck crashes are reported annually in the United States. These collisions end in over 5,000 fatalities and many more serious injuries. In Oklahoma, 654 people died in large truck accidents in 2020, up from 640 the year before. Many of these crashes involved semi-trucks. In 2020, trucking accidents resulted in 1,563 injuries, a significant increase from 1,914 in 2019.
