Salina, OK (April 18, 2025) - A man was killed after a two-vehicle collision outside of Salina on Tuesday, April 15. The deadly crash took place in Mayes County on Kenwood Road early that morning at around 6:06 a.m. Local reports revealed that a pickup truck driven by a teen passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone and crashed into the victim’s vehicle head-on.
Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The driver of the other car, later identified as 36-year-old Chad Flickinger, was killed in the impact. Flickinger was transported to a Tulsa hospital after being treated at the scene by attending medical personnel and later pronounced dead two days later. The driver of the pickup refused medical treatment. No further information on the deadly collision is currently available. However, an ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress, and more updates should be published as the inquiry moves forward.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this grieving time.
When two vehicles crash head-on, the results are often catastrophic. Statistics indicate that less than two percent of reported crashes each year are head-on crashes, but they are responsible for almost 10 percent of all road deaths across the country. Often, distracted drivers cause these crashes by veering into oncoming traffic. The most recent year saw 3,631 people killed in head-on collisions, and thousands more were seriously hurt. These types of crashes are some of the most lethal on American roads, with a nearly 56 percent fatality rate according to the latest figures.
