Sallisaw, OK - Child Killed in Church Bus Crash at Iola Ave & Walnut St

Sallisaw, OK (April 25, 2025) - On Wednesday, April 23, a child was killed after a two-vehicle crash involving a church bus in the Sallisaw area. The deadly incident took place at the corner of Iola Avenue and Walnut Street late that evening. A sport utility vehicle reportedly collided with a church bus at the scene. 

Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. A juvenile passenger sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. One of the drivers was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. The deceased party was later identified as an 11-year-old who attended Sallisaw Middle School. The area was temporarily closed while local authorities were present. No further information on the incident is currently available. However, an ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is in progress.
