Soper, OK (December 9, 2024) – On Saturday, December 7, a passenger was killed and several others injured after a car accident outside of Soper. The deadly crash took place late that evening on US-70 late that evening around 9:30 p.m. Local reports revealed that a Kia Optima was headed east when it attempted to make a left turn and entered the path of a westbound Honda Pilot.
The two vehicles collided at the intersection, and emergency crews were quickly dispatched to render the necessary aid. A passenger in the Hyundai, 23-year-old Brittney Spalding of Antlers, was pinned for nearly 20 minutes before being extricated by the Hugo Fire Department. She was rushed to Hugo Hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Kia was also hospitalized for treatment. There were four occupants in the Honda, including two children, and all were taken to a local hospital. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are managing an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash, and more information will be provided as it continues.
