Summerfield, OK - One Killed, Two Hurt in Head-on Crash on US-271

Summerfield, OK (March 12, 2025) - On Monday, March 10, one person was killed and two others were injured following a two-vehicle collision outside of Summerfield. The deadly accident took place on US-271 in Le Flore County early that morning at around 11:35 a.m. Local reports revealed that a 2009 Toyota Venza was headed northbound when it crossed the center line and entered southbound traffic. 

The Venza then collided head-on with a 1992 Toyota Tacoma. The two drivers were pinned inside their vehicles until being rescued by responding emergency crews. Both parties were then airlifted to local hospitals. The driver of the Venza was reportedly in stable condition, while the driver of the Tacoma was in critical condition. A passenger in the Tacoma, later identified as 39-year-old passenger Gregory Savage of Talihina, was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
