Tulsa, OK (April 17, 2025) – A child was killed after being hit by a motor vehicle in the Tulsa area on Wednesday, April 16. The deadly crash took place at the corner of Memorial Drive and E. 21st Street at around 5:20 p.m. Local reports revealed that a seven-year-old boy and several other children were trying to cross the street, headed north.
Eastbound traffic in the inside lane was stopped to let the children pass. However, one car hit the seven-year-old. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene, and the injured party was provided aid by attending medical personnel. The injured pedestrian was transported to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officials. The area was temporarily closed while local authorities were present. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
Pedestrians are some of the most vulnerable people on the road. Across the country, more and more people are dying while walking. Furthermore, these people are much more likely to die from their injuries in a crash. Walking caused about one in six deaths in the United States last year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that in Oklahoma in 2021, nearly 13 percent of traffic deaths involved people running into cars. If a close family member dies in a pedestrian accident, you should be ready to make a strong wrongful death claim with the help of a skilled attorney. This is often the only way to secure your legal rights during this difficult time.
A fatal pedestrian crash can happen in an instant, and it utterly changes the lives of the victim's bereaved family members. People on foot are not protected from the full impact of a crash, and many drivers fail to look out for those walking on Oklahoma roads. You need to be sure that you can work closely with a competent Tulsa pedestrian accident lawyer to achieve justice and get the most out of your case.
