Pedestrians are some of the most vulnerable roadway users. People on foot are over-represented in national roadway fatalities, and there is an increased risk of death and serious injury in a pedestrian accident. An estimated one in six fatalities in a recent year involved pedestrians, according to statistics. According to findings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 13 percent of roadway deaths in 2021 in Oklahoma involved a pedestrian.
